2008 – 2012: Communications Officer of the NCCR North-South, a research programme co-funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, and housed at CDE. My tasks included:

-           producing all material aimed at a broader audience and/or the media, such as brochures, newsletters, and policy briefs;

-           developing new communications products and, together with a graphic designer, templates for products to ensure consistency within the NCCR North-South. In 2010, we launched two new communications products: “Outcome Highlights” information sheets and “Evidence for Policy”, a policy brief series;

-           either writing material myself, or editing or translating content produced by researchers;

-           writing media releases and maintaining regular contact with journalists;

-           developing and presenting a training module on “Communicating with the Media” to PhD students at various training courses around the world (May 2009: Dushanbe, Tajikistan; October 2009: Mexico City; September 2010: Bahir Dar, Ethiopia);

-           overseeing the development of Communications Strategies for the coordination offices in the 9 NCCR North-South partnership regions (West Africa, East Africa, Horn of Africa, Central Asia, South Asia, South East Asia, Central America, South America, and Switzerland);

-           overseeing updates of the NCCR North-South website, which now no longer exists but redirects here.
