ABOUT

Photo of Tina Hirschbuehl

I work as an editor, writer, and translator for the Centre for Development and Environment (University of Bern, Switzerland) and as a consultant for the UN. I'm half-German/half-Danish, grew up in Japan and have lived in the UK, France, Switzerland, and Thailand. I have a BA (Hons) from the University of Sussex, UK (1992) and a MA from Malmö University, Sweden (2014).

Working first as a journalist and then as a communications officer has equipped me with the skills to produce content for a wide variety of media: radio, print, or television on the one hand; media releases, policy briefs, brochures, or newsletters on the other. Familiarizing myself with writing blogs and social media entries was an integral part of my MA in Communication for Development.

I am an experienced translator of German into English – but also of academic/scientific language or “developmentspeak” into plain English. At this point in my career, I believe I would make a valuable contribution in promoting the policies and impact of an organization – either through writing/editing informative and accessible speeches, thought leadership pieces, or other editorial products tailored to various audiences.

I am a team player and believe I am easy to get along with. Having grown up in an international environment, I feel most at home in a multicultural setting.
